Overview
Our usual monthly get-together evolved into the highlight of sustainability week. We made our operations greener, wove in interactive learning, and launched a hands-on pledge system that turned good intentions into real action.
Make Sustainability Social
Throughout campus-wide sustainability week, we set out to make environmental responsibility part of our culture by crafting an event where fun and learning went hand in hand.
Make Green the Default
The Ugly Baby: Intentionally design sustainability into as many touchpoints as possible.
One Coherent Theme
We turned our vision into reality by zeroing in on four essential touchpoints:
First, we worked with the school’s sustainability office and followed green event guidelines to make our operations credible.
Next, we chose sustainable supplies: vegan dishes from a local eatery, compostable utensils, bamboo plates, and other earth-friendly materials.
We ignited curiosity and participation by showing Planet Earth episodes, encouraging guests to write sustainability pledges on recycled paper sticky notes, and celebrating their commitments with nature-themed stickers.
We designed the space around the floor’s big table, turning it into a hub for lively discussions, idea exchanges, and genuine community connection.
Theme-Led Design, Better Conversations
Guests noticed the thoughtful touches in every sustainable choice and enjoyed how learning was woven into the pledges. Connecting the event to sustainability week amplified its impact and strengthened our collective commitment, setting the stage for future campus gatherings where every detail champions the theme.
